Staycation Season

If a cruise down to the tropics or a cross country road trip isn’t in the cards for this Summer, but you’re still looking for a way to spend those spare vacation days, a staycation might be exactly what you need. We spend so much time in our homes that we often forget that it should feel like a retreat from the real world. With a little planning, staying at home can feel just as luxurious as a five star hotel.

Fill up the tub, bust out the candles and bubble bath, pour a refreshing glass of your favorite beverage, and settle in for a relaxing at-home spa day! Whether you want a facial, a massage, or a shvitz, there are plenty of ways to get the A-list treatment from home. Check YouTube for some easy do-it-yourself face masks. Set up a nail salon for you and the kids. Or hire a massage therapist to do a session at your house!

Part of the joy of vacation is being able to feel like a kid again. What would a kid do if they were trapped in the house? Build a fort, of course! Grab every blanket and pillow you have, and let your imagination run wild. Fill it up with snacks and some twinkle lights, and you have the perfect atmosphere for a movie marathon or a game night.

On the other hand, some of us enjoy vacation because it’s finally our chance to be pampered. The last thing you’ll want to do after a long day of treating yourself is to have to cook a meal. Keep the celebrity status rolling and hire a private chef for the night! Whether you’re having a meal for two, or inviting the whole neighborhood, knowing that everything from the prep to the clean up is handled, you’ll be able to truly enjoy every second of the evening.

If you’re go-to vacation is an outdoor adventure, camping in the backyard might be just the ticket! This is also a great alternative for those who might not be the camping type. You can still enjoy the fresh air and meals cooked over an open fire, but running water is only a few feet away.

How much do you really know your town? You might be surprised by how much your home has to offer, even for a small town. Be a local tourist and explore your neighborhood like you’ve never seen it before. Look online to see what actual tourists like about your neighborhood. You might even find something you never knew was there!

What are some of your favorite staycation ideas? We’d love to hear them!
