Our Favorite Summer Day Trips!

As sad as it is to say, with August just around the corner, we are rapidly approaching the backend of Summer. But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy everything that the last full month of the season has to offer. To help you make the most of each and every minute, we made a list of  some of our teams’ favorite Summer spots around New Jersey, perfect for a day trip!

Donna: Point Pleasant

Everyone loves a good beach day in the Summer. But for some of us sitting on the beach all day isn’t the goal. Donna’s choice is a beach town like one of her favorites, Point Pleasant! Yes, you can spend hours on the beach, enjoying the sun and sand, but that’s not where the fun ends! Go fishing off the pier, or visit Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, filled with games, rides, and food as far as the eye can see. There’s even an aquarium! Don’t forget to stop at Spike’s for some of the best crab legs you’ve ever had!

Rebecca: Lake Aeroflex, Andover

Rebecca is a camping kind of girl. She loves the outdoors, but especially scenic peaceful landscapes. Lake Aeroflex in Andover is the perfect spot! Rent a boat, or bring your own, and spend the day out on the calm waters, beautiful view all around. You can even go fishing for trout if you have your fishing license! Back on dry land, you can cook up that fish on one of the charcoal grills and enjoy it at one of the picnic tables. One of this parks most interesting features is the butterfly and humming bird garden. A great place to bring kids and teach them all the wonders of mother nature. If you’re lucky enough to have more than just one day to spend at Lake Aeroflex, spend the night at the camp grounds! Fit in a sunrise hike before you leave or just spend the day enjoying the view!

Lauren: Lambertville

Not being much of a beach person, Lauren picked her favorite spot for antiquing! Lambertville is filled with so many shops, antique vendors, art galleries, coffee shops, candy stores, the list goes on. You’ll reach your steps goal, no problem, in this town. But if shopping isn’t your thing, you can get your steps in walking along the Delaware Canal Towpath. If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a boat and travel down the Delaware river. When you get back to town, there are countless restaurants waiting to serve you. If you have the chance to stay the night, book a room in one of the many B&Bs housed in beautiful historic Victorian buildings. This town has no shortage of character!
