Labor Day Traditions

The unofficial end to Summer is this weekend. Whether you’re sad to see it go or itching for Fall, the long weekend is time for us all to celebrate! And there is no shortage of things to do. If you’re still at a loss for what to do this weekend, check out the list below and see if anything sparks some inspiration for you.

We are so lucky being in Morris County, we have one of the greatest and most unique parades for Labor Day right in Boonton. Almost every town in the county joins in to show off their firetrucks, new and old, riding down Main Street. It’s truly a sight to see.

After the parade, stick around for the Fireman’s Carnival, held every Labor Day weekend. Rides, games, food, live music and fun! They even have a fireworks display. There’s something for everyone!

If you’re looking for a more chill version of your weekend, maybe go take a mini vacation. There’s plenty of great places within driving distance for a great getaway. We have the shore for a beach day, PA for some hiking or antiquing, the city for some luxury, and so many more in between.

Or stay at home and enjoy a delicious BBQ with friends and family. Do a pot luck to minimize the amount of work you might get stuck with. Keep things easy so you’ll have time to relax too.

Labor Day is also notorious for having some killer sales! If there is anything you need before the holidays, this is the best time to get a head start. Clothing, furniture, electronics, you name it!

While there will always be plenty of fun things to do, there are also some really worth while things we can do for others when we get the chance. Reach out to a local charity and volunteer your time. After all, Labor Day is all about the American people coming together, because we are more powerful when we work together for a common good.

We hope you and your families have a happy a safe holiday weekend!
